One Rocky Road

This week I will be reviewing the show Once Upon A Time and its current season which features Elsa and Anna from the movie Frozen. If you are not familiar with the show please direct your full attention to the following paragraph that briefly recaps season one, please direct your attention to the heading Season 1. . Since the show started in 2011 there has been a huge following of fans who refer to themselves as "Oncers". The oncer fandom comes from the title of the show's title but they just add an S. The Once Upon A Time fandom is huge and they have created "ships" a.k.a people who they think will or should get together, "Ships" can also be formed with existing couples. Currently in season 4 there are 4 ships and they would be Snowing (Snow White and Prince Charming), Captain Swan (Captain Hook and Emma Swan), Rumbelle (Rumpelstiltskin and Belle) and lastly OutlawQueen (Regina (the evil queen) and Robin Hood). Captain Swan has been "shipped" since seasons 2-3 when Emma and Hook first met in the enchanted forest.
Season 1
On her 28th birthday a women named Emma Swan receives a unexpected guest outside her door claiming to her son she had given up for adoption 10 year ago, with a fairy tale book in hand her son tells her of a town in Maine called Storybrooke that is occupied with characters from his book and that she is the child of Prince Charming and Snow White and also the only person who could break the curse that had been cast on the town and the people in it.
Fast forward 3 seasons that involved new characters, unexpected trips to Neverland, new relationships and death we have arrived at our destination season 4 of Once Upon A Time episode 3

Since the show started in 2011, this season has been my favourite so far because of 5 main reason the first reason is that there were so many Frozen (2013 film) references in the show from quotes to characters. In the show they captured Elsa and Anna's personalities perfectly as well as their costumes. The episode Rocky Road is my favorite so far because in this episode Emma, Hook, David (prince charming) and Elsa go on the hunt for the Snow Queen who has framed Elsa for cursing Maid Marian (Robin Hoods) wife, during the flashbacks you get a closer look at Elsa and Kristoffs relationship that has developed since
(! SPOILER ALERT!) Anna and Kristoff have become engaged, during the flash back it was revealed that Hans and his brothers planned to start a war with Arendalle but Elsa and Kristoff go on a mission to stop them before they can attack her kingdom, While heading to the camp where Hans and his brothers are there is a reference to when Kristoff and Anna (in the movie) use the rope to climb down the mountain where Elsa had built her ice castle. My favourite part of the flashback was when Kristoff said the following quote "She's going to be fine. I've seen Anna fight wolves and snow monsters and that idiot from the South Isles." The second reason I loved this episode was because Hans was finally frozen not by Elsa but the Snow Queen! when that happened I have to say I did a little happy dance inside. The third reason why I loved this episode was because while Hook and Elsa were on the hunt for the Snow Queen we were finally able to see Hook use modern day technology and were able to laugh at how he only knew how to call Emma ... Kind of like how my grandma can only figure out how to call my dads cellphone when she's trying to call me. The fourth reason why I loved this episode was because we're were able to see The Knave of Hearts make his way into Storybrooke and see who he is and his backstory, it was cool being able to see how the creators Adam and Eddy bring him over because fans would know him as the Knave of Hearts from Once Upon A Time In Wonderland and not just Will. The finale reason why I loved this episode was because of Regina she chose to be selfless and save Robin’s wife's Marian from the curse by removing her heart before the ice curse could freeze it. Don't get me wrong I loved all the CaptainSwan moments  (Emma and Hook) as well as when Emma saved Hook from being killed but this episode really showed how much Regina cares for Robin and wanting him to be happy even if it means he would chose to be with Marian, and it shows how selfless she has become since the show started in 2011.

Struck

"> Check out the playlist.

                                     Struck by Jennifer Bosworth

Whenever I go to chapters I take a stroll  past the bargain books, sometimes I find my next favourite author next favourite series. This time I went and saw the book Struck by Jennifer Bosworth, when it came out and I read the synopsis I was immediately hooked and wanted to buy it but by the time I was unable to go to a chapters, then  I had long forgotten about buying it, but that day I saw it on the bargain books shelf I picked it up forgetting that I had wanted to read it, as I was reading the inside cover I was hooked and proceeded to go to the cash to buy it.

Set in post apocalyptic Los Angeles, Mia Price is a lightning addict and she has survived each time she has been struck but with each strike she becomes more addicted to the power of storms and crave their energy to become connected with them once again. But lurking in the cracks of a broken up L.A there is a power struggle between the prophet and his followers and the seekers who are lead by Mia's Highschool teacher. Little does Mia know about her destiny and why she’s attracted to lightning storms and also the underground war that is happening between the Prophet and his followers and the Seekers? Each side wants Mia but will she choose whom she settles her loyalties with or will she go her own way and chose her love for her family over the fate of L.A?

When I first started reading Struck I found Mia to be really annoying when she described what she did daily but as I got deeper into the book I understand why her day was so detailed. Each time I turned the page I started reading faster and before I knew it was hallway through the book. Currently I am still reading it and I love how L.A is described because it had been destroyed by a very powerful earthquake, when we talk about L.A in todays time we see it has a city that is filled with bright lights and huge buildings and beautiful buildings but in the book L.A has been destroyed, many of the towers and roads have been broken do to the shifting of the earths plates. At 9:07 tonight I finished Struck, As I passed the halfway point which lead me to finishing it I found the religion  aspect of the book to become more dominate towards the end which I didn't like because I wanted to find out what would happen to the main character Mia and her final decision but after finishing it I found that the religion did play a key role in helping Mia realize her destiny and save L.A. In the end I think Struck was very well placed, the characters were very believable because there are things we want to hide from the people around us and different religions and beliefs surround us all the time and also the fate of the world, I was also shocked to find out that Jeremy was the Prophets son but I kind of had a feeling that he was but was not sure but when I did read that part I was defiantly shocked! In this book Jennifer Bosworth has made me realize that no matter what we try to do we can't hide from our true natures and our true selves without becoming lost in a lie, at one point in Struck the prophet brainwashed Mia and taking away her scars  (that she had gotten each time she had been struck by lightning) and having her believe that she has her mother back and that she has the perfect life, but all of that was a lie she is then woken up from the dream from and the help from her now boyfriend Jeremy and also her old self the one that had been buried when the prophet had brainwashed her. In other words if you want to read a book with a strong female lead read this book because this main character doesn't need to rely on anyone to come out on top and also changes her fate.

Why.
